Sports
If you prefer watching sports, you can watch baseball at Wrigley Field (Cubs) or U.S. Cellular Field (World Champion White Sox), American football at Soldier Field (Chicago Bears), soccer ("voetbal") at Soldier Field (Chicago Fire), ice hockey at the United Center (Blackhawks) or basketball at the United Center (Da Bulls).
Music
Electric blues started in Chicago. Blues greats like Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells and many others have called Chicago their home. Each year Blues Fest and Jazz Fest are held in Grant Park. An absolute must see.
Theatre
Not New York - but Chicago has fantastic theatre - musical and otherwise. Many productions make their final tour through Chicago before starting off in New York. So, you get to see top notch theatre before the New Yorkers . . .
